HelloFresh is bringing a new meaning to “friend giving.”
The meal kit company is bringing the iconic Thanksgiving sitcom episode to life for the holiday as it honors Friends’ 30th anniversary.
In a throwback to the beloved series’ Season 6 Episode 9, titled “The One Where Ross Got High,” the limited-edition meal kit will allow customers to recreate the infamous shepherd’s pie-meets-English recipe. which was hilariously failed by Rachel Green. (Jennifer Aniston).
“Friends is an iconic show and the Thanksgiving episodes are especially memorable, so recreating Rachel’s English-meets-shepherd pie baking was an exciting culinary challenge for us,” said Michelle Doll Olson, manager of culinary development at HelloFresh US in a statement.
Many fans may remember Ross Geller (David Schwimmer) saying that Rachel’s invention “tastes like feet!” and Joey Tribbiani (Matt LeBlanc) arguing that he liked it because, “What’s not to like? Cream cream, good. Now, good. Meat, good!” –
But there’s no need to worry about feasting on footy tastes with the meal kit, created in partnership with Warner Bros. The discovery.
The kit comes with a custom little plate that’s designed to keep the savory ingredients strategically separated from the sweet — that is, unless you want it Joey’s way.
“Taking inspiration from the original dish, our goal was to capture the humor and fun of the episode while making sure the recipe was still delicious. Whether you choose to enjoy each recipe on its own or boldly mix them up, this sweet and savory dish is sure to be a hit with you. FRIENDSgiving this year!” Doll Olson added.
Along with personalized small plate ingredients, customers will receive step-by-step recipe cards to create two different recipes: beef shepherd’s pie and a classic English dish.
Using the small plate with a center divider, the recipes can be made and served side by side, giving fans a choice to keep them separate or try the Tribiani dessert.
The food set also comes with a Freinds themed apron for fans to wear while serving the dish.
“At HelloFresh, we know our customers love to have fun in the kitchen and are huge fans of the beloved sitcom ‘Friends,'” Kirsten Walpert, vice president of brand and creative for HelloFresh US, said in a statement. “That’s why we’re excited to bring this unforgettable dish to life, which will help ‘Friends’ fans enjoy a unique and delicious culinary experience as they celebrate with loved ones this holiday season.”
